This beautiful historic home built in the mid 1700s with rambling rooms, low ceilings and multiple fireplaces was both a thrill to decorate and a fantastic challenge. The family who hired me felt drawn to the character of the oddities of the home and most likely the warmth an old home provides naturally; knowing families passed through its hallways for generations is comforting.
It isn’t everyday that a designer gets to work on a home this old so we took our time, making sure the spaces were comfortable, usable, modern enough but not overly so. The house told us what it could accommodate and not vise versa so we listened.
